I ran today. I figured I should take advantage of blue sky while I could. I did run 5/walk 1 minute intervals since if I was being honest with myself, that's about what I was doing the couple of times I ran in December. It was cold, but we were well equipped. Jonah actually kept his hat and mittens on the whole time, but his hands were still a bit chilly when we were done. I wore gloves and some of my new compression gear and felt comfortable for the entire run. I did get a couple of blasts of wind that really knocked me back a bit. It's really blowing hard out there, but in sporadic gusts. My time was slower and I didn't cover as much ground as I was the last few times I ran, but I'm not going to beat myself up about having to backtrack in my training. At least I did something. I must say, I also had to stop at least 5 times to pick up a sippy cup that was dropped overboard and I stopped briefly to get our gloves on. So, maybe I wouldn't have been so far off had I factored those things in. I'm also resetting my week count. I didn't run enough in the past two months to really count those weeks, so I'm just going to start over. New year, fresh start.
I have just 17 days before the Zoo Run Run 5k. I've registered and there's no way I'm backing out. But, there's also no way I'll be to a point in my training where I'll be running a 5k. But I'm going to try to run as much of it as I can. Unfortunately, I figured out that it's on the same day that we scheduled the Smial book discussion of Book 1 of FOTR. It makes me a sad panda to miss out on that, but I don't want to half ass the race to try to make both events and I committed to it first.
As far as running resolutions:
1. Finish my 5k training
2. Run at least three 5k races this year (maybe more)
3. Work on my times and endurance and try to get down to a 30 min or less 5k, then think about adding more distance.
If I accomplish these things, maybe I can think about working towards a 10k. Then I can cross off another thing on the 43 things.
Now to go heat up some minestrone. My second breakfast wore off shortly after my run.
