That's about how I feel today. I'm all anxious about not finishing Halloween costumes in time like last year. Only this year, I'm spending a LOT more on them (both energy and money). I couldn't sleep last night because of it. Finally got to sleep at about 2am after having gone to bed at about 11pm. I slept in until 8am so that I wouldn't be jittery and anxious as well as exhausted. Seemed to work. I'm just jittery and anxious. I did work out a to-do list for it though and I feel better because it's attainable and gives me 5 days of slip time in case I've underestimated on anything (like silk painting, I have no idea how long it's going to take because I've never done it before). I've accepted that I'm going to have to cut some corners in a lot of places too, and that helps ease the pressure.

Anyhoo, we've seen a few great movies lately. Finally saw the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy movie. I was impressed. I really wasn't expecting much, if anything, from it, but I thought they did it great justice. Last week we watched I Heart Huckabees. Damn good movie!! I loved it! And, we watched an indie film called Me and You and Everyone We Know. Strange flick. Reminded me of Happiness in some respects, but not. I liked it a lot, too. Movies with no real resolution are strangely unsatisfying, even if they're good, though.

In the past month or so, we've also watched Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Machinist. Both good. My only complaints about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was that I didn't think it was Danny Elfman's best work and every time I saw the Oompa Loompa, I thought, "gigolo". The only complaint about The Machinist was that it was chock-full of cliche. I guess it's hard not to be these days.

So, Chris is a little over a 10th of the way to his goal of owning 1000 dvds. I think we're starting to reclaim our attention spans that were previously limited to about 20 minutes as a result of watching nothing but cartoons.

If you want..

oh, and the machinist is definitely worth the watch. it was mostly character cliches (the prostitute with a heart of gold, single mother with a son that has a disability, etc.)
