My Top 5 Favourite Beatles Songs

In no particular order and as I thought of them and subject to change and all that.

1. Come Together - I mean, really, this is like essential rock-n-roll, right?
2. Ob-la-di, Ob-la-da - because it never fails to put me in a good mood.
3. Accross the Universe - Just beautiful!
4. Rocky Raccoon - I really can't tell you why I love this song so much, but I do.
5. While My Guitar Gently Weeps - because George is a genius! ;)

My Top Five Most Loathed Beatles Songs

Loathed is a strong word and doesn't necessarily apply, but most of these I skip because they're just overplayed or they just drag on to me:
1. Tell Me Why
2. Long and Winding Road
3. I Should Have Known Better
4. I Want to Hold Your Hand
5. Till There Was You

You Are a Snow Leopard
You have learned that you must rely on yourself, and yourself alone, to live a happy life.
You understand the world better than most people you know. You are very perceptive and intuitive.

You need lots of space to think. If you don't get the space you need, you're likely to bite someone's head off.
Because you are so thoughtful and solitary, people find you to be intense and mysterious. You're even seen as intimidating.

How about that. There are other results besides Lynx and Panther. ;)

Most often, it's a Simpsons quote of some sort that no one gets but me, maybe Chris and usually Doug. I can generally quench the strange looks I get from saying something incredibly off the wall or just plain stupid by simply saying, "Simpsons quote".

Although, I've had to explain deadlicious to a few people, I haven't used it often enough (shame on me) to say I've used it "most often".

And for those wondering. . .

Deadlicious: Something that is delicious but deadly, like biscuits and gravy, lead paint* or anything from Hardee's/Carl's Jr. Thank you to the Lord of the Nethers himself, Michael Cook, for this little gem.

Now, go forth and spread the word deadlicious like butter over bacon!

*Simpsons reference: One of Troy McClure's educational films, "Lead paint: delicious but deadly." No, I've never eaten nor do I recommend the consumption of lead paint.

The first five people to respond to this post will get something made by me! My choice. For you.

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations:
- I make no guarantees that you will like what I make!
- What I create will be just for you.
- It'll be done this year.
- You have no clue what it's going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure!
- I reserve the right to do something extremely strange.

The catch? Oh, the catch is that you have to put this in your journal as well. We all can make stuff!

Political Spectrum Quiz

Also in the political realm, I'm very glad I did my part yesterday to help vote down the "English Only" referendums. Now I can't wait until the next chance I get to cast a vote to try to get Crafton out of office (yep, I'm ashamed to say he's my councilman). I curious as to what the polls in our district looked like. Anyone know where I can find a breakdown? All I've found is this.

Your Word is "Think"

You see life as an amazing mix of possibilities, ideas, and fascinations.

And sometimes you feel like you don't have enough time to take it all in.

You love learning. Whether you're in school or not, you're probably immersed in several subjects right now.

When you're not learning, you're busy reflecting. You think a lot about the people you know and the things you've experienced.

I took the 43 Things Personality Quiz and found out I'm a
Romantic Organized Extrovert

I don't know if it's broken or something, but 0% of the 43963 people who took this test are like me. I didn't think I was that unique. And the organized I get, totally, but romantic extrovert? Really?

Really?

ETA: I took it again and got Romantic Self-Improving De-Clutterer. That sounds a little more like it.

Day 7
1. I got to sleep in!

2. I got Jonah's room totally back in order. The best part is, it's still that way. With him being able to hop out of bed and play, his room was getting really trashed. Now all his toys are in drawers and I think he doesn't know where everything is yet. So mostly it's just been his kitchen toys he drags out, which are in a bin out in the open.

3. I also got the cabinet we replaced our desk with back in order. I still need some more organizers for it so that it's easy to keep that way and easy to get things in and out of it, but for now, it looks orderly and there's no risk of an avalanche when you open the doors.

4. I went through our mound of owner's manuals and threw out all the ones for things we no longer own. I then made another pass through it to throw out all the ones for things we don't really need a manual for (like a lot of Jonah's toys and such). There's still quite a lot of them though, far more than will fit in the file cabinet boxes as was our original plan. I think I'm just going to have to get a small box for them. It's not like we need to get to them very often.

5. I remembered to take my vitamin C, echinacea, zinc, B complex pills and felt a lot better the next morning.

6. Baja style fish tacos again for dinner.

Day 8:
1. I got to sleep in on a weekday!

2. I got Jonah's tricycle put together for Santa. He's a busy man and needs all the help he can get. Besides, I dress like an elf on occasion. So what if it's the wrong kind of elf!

3. I got Jonah's gifts wrapped and under the tree while he napped.

4. We got the second keg of gingerbread ale bottled so that's no longer looming over our heads along with all the other pre-Christmas tasks.

5. Even though it wasn't very restful, it was kind of sweet to have Jonah in bed with us for a bit last night after what I think was a bad dream. He didn't want to be in his bed alone for some reason and would cry if he realized he was. We eventually got him to fall asleep and then transferred him to his own bed with minimal problems, but that wasn't until after midnight.

1. Having Jonah fall asleep at nap time to me reading him the Simpsons Xmas Book (which is basically a comic book version of the first episode). I was trying to pick a book that was long enough to get him to calm down and with about 3 or 4 pages left, I heard his breath regulate and felt him go limp as he dropped his cup from lunch that he was holding.

2. Getting the house mostly back in some sort of order.

3. Working through organizing the cabinet that's replacing the desk we just got rid of. I threw away a lot of useless paper yesterday. I also went through and weeded out the best of Jonah's art from school and just kept one of his notes per month (he gets one for every day that tells me how many diaper changes he had, how well he ate, what his overall mood was and any special notes of problems or things he particularly enjoyed that day).

4. Making Baja style fish tacos for dinner.

5. Playing Clue with the neighbors until midnight. Anyone that knows me knows I tend to avoid board and card games, but this was really fun. I hadn't played Clue since I was a kid. We played three games and they were all really good. No one won the second game. We all guessed wrong in the end.

1. Jonah had a really great day and was so helpful all day long. He put away the book he was playing with at school before leaving the classroom and his teachers mentioned how good of a helper he is when it comes time to clean up. When we got home, he unpacked his lunch box with no mention of it from me. He just unzipped it enough to get the containers out and threw them all in the sink, then handed me the ice pack. I wound up rocking him to sleep again after a couple of hours of trying to get him to nap on his own, even though he looked like he could just nod off right after our run.

2. I RAN! It was really hard, especially since I'm still really congested from this head cold I've been trying to dodge. I had more gunk in my lungs than I realized and I drank some Breathe Easy tea after cooling down and getting plenty of water back in me. But I simply could not let one of the few gorgeous days of the winter pass by without getting out to run. I mean, it's one thing when there's freezing rain, or even just freezing temps, but when it's 70+ and sunny, I better get my ass out and run!

3. Brandy's in Huntsville safe and sound. YAY! Plotting ways to spend as much time as possible with her while she's nearby.

4. I got another huge chunk of things crossed off my to do list for the week.

5. I got childproof door knob covers on the rest of the doors that needed them. The unfortunate thing is that the latch I got for Jonah's closet door isn't strong enough and pops open if he pulls on the door knobs. But the rubber bands I was using before I got the latch seem to work just fine. Luckily the latch was only $3 or so for a 2 pack. Unfortunately I don't think we have anything else we could possibly use it on.

6. Christmas shopping is almost done. Just need to start the rather large task of getting everything wrapped.

7. The freakin' gorgeous weather!! I feel somewhat recharged after a warm day of sun. I must be related to Birdman.

8. I got to shop for organizers for our cabinet that we're now using as kind of a home base since we got rid of our old huge ugly roll top desk. Even though all I bought were a couple of stackable flat bed letter holders for now, I got to shop for organizing stuff and yes, that makes me happy. I also just discovered organize.com.

1. Finally took the stuff back to Target that I bought before the Superhero 5k and wound up not needing. Hurray for an extra $50 right before the holidays. Used it to take care of most of the kids on my list.

2. Got Jonah to nap. Guess the secret is to drag him somewhere with me right after lunch and wear him out. He fell asleep in the car after we left Target, so I cut my day of errands short and went straight home. He was out/tired enough not to wake up much as I carried him in the house and took off his jacket and shoes to get him in bed. He slept until about 5:30 and was in a much better mood last night than he had been in quite a while.

3. Watching Jonah and Maya, the little girl across the street play. And not to be smug about it or anything, but I was really proud of how he handled himself. I've gotten some sporadic reports from school of hitting and toy snatching and just recently biting. But it was Maya who would hit him if he tried to come play with a toy she was playing with. He was doing a good job of sharing and trying to play with her, but she's a few months younger and not there yet I guess. It was about 20 or 21 months when I first got hitting reports, and that's how old she is, so I'm sure she'll grow out of it just like he did. But it was nice to see him not react adversely to her aggression. He just looked at her like, "what was that?!" They were so silly though, at first just running around screaming and with the dogs and such too, it was so chaotic for the first 20 minutes or so. They eventually settled down enough to play with some Duplo blocks and the Magnadoodle and do some quieter constructive things.

4. The new Blue Coast Burrito is open at Nashville West! YAY!!! That means we don't have to drive all the way over to the 100 Oaks area just to get a Baja fish burrito fix. And we also have another option on nights we go to Costco and need to grab dinner while we're out. No more resorting to Red Robin (blech!). I'm really surprised there aren't more restaurants down there. There's a Logan's Roadhouse going in next door to Red Robin, but I'm not excited about that either. But I'm totally happy about Blue Coast.

5. I realized it's literally been years since I set foot in a Wal-Mart. As in probably right around 2 years.

6. It was very minimal effort to participate in the cookie swap at Jonah's school yesterday. All I had to do was drop the cookies off in the teacher's lounge. Jonah had a confused look on his face when we left and realized he wasn't going to school, but he didn't get sad or anything.

7. Crossing a lot of tasks off my to do list for the week.

8. Brandy arrives in Huntsville today!!!!

1. Rocked Jonah to sleep for the first time since his infancy. Granted it wasn't until about 4:30pm after I'd been trying to get him to nap by any other means possible, but it was still sweet, nonetheless.

2. Bought two new pairs of pants in time for them to arrive before Christmas. I'm in desperate need of new clothes and as much as I appreciate clothes (see costuming interest), I hate shopping for them. Nothing ever satisfies and I don't have time to make what I really want. I really don't like the styles that are popular right now either and I don't feel like I'm not old enough to buy old lady clothes. But, I order pants I like at least from Delia's and Alloy (DONTJUDGEME!). Yes, I totally realize these places are for high school girls (believe me, it's hard to miss with all the ads for acne medicine and music and movies I've never heard of), but I like their pants and they come in 35" inseams. You don't find that in department stores.

3. Registered for the Zoo Run Run 5k. If anyone is interested, you have until Friday before the price goes up. Right now it's $25 for zoo members and $28 for non-members. The registration confirmation page said, "Animal attire is strongly encouraged. Prizes will be given to best dressed. No long tails due to the running nature of this event." *ponders*

4. Baking approximately 6 dozen peanut butter cookies with Chris and Jonah. Chris stepped in a few times to take over as I got busy with other things and Jonah did a great job of cleaning the paddle attachment to the stand mixer when we were done. The most gratifying thing is that this was just a single batch of Alton Brown's peanut butter cookie from his baking book. Yes, that's right, a single batch makes 6 dozen cookies. His theory is you can always freeze the dough if you don't want to use it all right away. Another gratifying thing is that I'm taking them all to Jonah's teachers today for a cookie swap thing, so other than what we ate/burned last night, they'll be gone right away without us having to eat them.

5. Talking to Brandy again on Facebook, even though she had bad news. Wishing for a Christmas miracle for her to get it all worked out. ONE MORE DAY!!!

6. Getting a Christmas card from the Garners. Thanks guys!

1. Remembering to call my bro on his birthday and hearing it was a better day for him than the day before.

2. Talking to Brandy again on Facebook. 2 MORE DAYS!

3. Totally winging it on dinner and pulling off quite a yummy one with just stuff we had on hand, despite me desperately needing to go to the grocery (was pan seared Orange Roughy fillets with a Middle Eastern sort of spice rub and a grain/pasta mixture of Israli couscous, red quinoa, split baby chickpeas and tricolor orzo with similar spices as the fish).

4. Watching Bender's Game. I personally think it was better than Bender's Big Score and I haven't seen Beast with a Billion Backs yet. Could have been because of all the geeky parodies, though. Fry: "What's that, a hobbit?" Bender: "No, that's a hobo and a rabbit, but they're making a hobbit."

5. Catching Sunflower before she got through the hole she dug under the gate. Totally looked like Winnie the Pooh or something, with her halfway out of the hole. Luckily she was just a little muddy and I was able to let her dry off in the laundry room and brush it out. The other day when she actually got out, she ran to the nearby horse pasture and rolled around in manure. That wasn't so easily gotten rid of. Even though I was pissed at the time, thinking back on the scene and watching her make an obvious decision about whether to try to make a break for it even though she was caught was really funny. I'm really glad she didn't get out because I always worry about her getting hit by a car or something (I've found her in a neighborhood across Highway 100 before). And the fact that I didn't wind up having to give her another bath was good, since that's no easy task.

6. Teaching Jonah to sing "Santa Claus is coming to town". About all he can manage is to melodically say, "Santa, town", but he gets the point across.

7. Dreaming about costumes for the second time in a week (figures since I had sworn off trying to work on any until the first of the year).

I'll probably do this for the day before, since I don't normally do anything on the computer at night and it kind of helps to wait until the end of the day to quantify all the things that made you happy that day.

1. The lovely scene just before the rain started yesterday morning.

2. Talking to Brandy on Facebook. Three days until she's just and hour and a half drive south! YAY!

3. Talking to my oldest brother for the first time in a long time, probably since the summer, if I had to guess. He's starting to have some similar, though more sophisticated discipline issues with his 4-year-old son, so we were able to compare notes.

4. Finally ordering the Happiest Toddler on the Block to get some guidance on discipline.

5. Getting my "Household Bible" (notebook where I keep anything and everything) back in order and made a "to do this week" list for the first time in a couple of weeks. Feeling more organized already.

6. Watching the Alice Cooper episode of The Muppet Show with Jonah and watching him (Jonah, not Alice Cooper) dance to School's Out For Summer. There's something about muppets singing Welcome To My Nightmare that warms my heart, heh.

Several on my friends list have posted this one today and I like it:

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.
3. Include these instructions, and share the love.

Since most of them have been LOL cats, I'm going to post something from my personal stash:

This was one of my favorite flowers in the garden this summer, the Green Flair Gladiolus. I almost bought a Dendrobium orchid at the grocery yesterday because it looked like a miniature version of this. I'm a sucker for green flowers.
