This is what the trim looked like when I bought it.

This is what I'm doing to it. The only thing it's missing are the beads and sequins I hope to add.

I probably won't have anything else interesting to show on it until I start adding beads and sequins. Just more of the same until I get about a yard or so done. I can't even remember how much of the stuff I bought. Knowing me, probably 2 yards.

Had a panicky moment this morning realizing July is nearly over and I still haven't worked on my mockup any further. Not to mention that if I'm doing Rosie, I'd need a wig and such. Rosie might get crossed off the list for lack of budget and time to get everything I need for her. We'll see.

Now to quit wasting time and get the house cleaned up before my mother-in-law gets here.

Thanks! It's really not that much, at least it doesn't seem like much. The biggest part (the silver squiggles) is just couching, so it's not like it's a million stitches. It's certainly something that keeps my hands busy when I'm unwinding and watching cartoons in the evenings. :)

Thanks! Heh, that's another one I want to do. In fact, I want to do that gown just to do the embroidery (and I like the colors). I know I could buy a close enough trim from Suomynona Couture and maybe I'm insane, but I'd rather make it myself.

That is so beautiful. But omgoodness thats a whole lotta work. I'm duly impressed!

I so wanna get my Eowyn trim out of whatever box I stowed it in now. :-)

I've been very slowly working on the green gown since oh, about 2004 I think. Collecting fabric and trim along the way. Have been ready to start for ages but can't get satisfied with the underskirt or yoke fabric. Its been impossible to find the distressed, metallic like leaves print fabric. Its like the Holy Grail of fabric.

Might just have to use whatever on it soon.

Oh man, I hear ya! That's what keeps me from starting to collect fabrics for it. It was a bummer when the trim sold out, but trims can be duplicated by hand for the most part. It's that utterly unique fabric that will be absolutely impossible to find. I've thought about possibly finding a metallic brocade with a smallish pattern to it and washing the heck out of it to get it to crinkle up, then flipping it over to use the back side and printing my own leaves on it. I think that might work, even if it is a little extreme. The problem is you can't often see the back sides of fabrics, especially if you're ordering online. Sometimes brocades are reversible and that wouldn't work for this.

I know I waited and waited for the right brocade for the sleeves of the Blood Red gown. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I found the stuff I wound up using. I'm contemplating buying a couple more yards of it while Bindu still has it just to have on hand should I wish to remake the gown later (my undergown is rather awful, luckily you can't see it).

I guess you could always settle for something now and redo that part of it later if you felt so inclined.

Thanks! Heh, that's funny. This is actually what I do to unwind after being patient with a toddler all day. It's kind of mindless busy work for my hands while I sit and watch some TV in the evenings after he goes to bed.
