I told myself a few weeks ago while cleaning out our office and going through my fabric stash that I wouldn't buy anymore fabric unless it was necessary to finish a project that I already had the majority of the supplies for (such as linings and what not). Also, about a week ago, I told myself I wouldn't lose my head and jump on this raspberry lace for the Chase outfit until someone else had attempted the strip and redye. But, I thought about it and realized that I've got some RIT color remover as well as some charcoal grey and pewter colored fiber reactive dyes. I also thought, well, I've still got $25 of birthday money to spend and really there's nothing else I want that fits that budget. So, I went ahead and ordered a yard. I'll probably attempt the dye as soon as I get it. But I don't have this costume planned any time soon at all. There are so many things in front of it right now. I mean, I've got a rather large trunk plus another large Rubbermaid container full of yards and yards and yards of fabric. I should have just gotten the grey stuff when it was in stock. I'm feeling kind of stupid for trying to attempt something that very well may not work at all on a rather expensive piece of fabric. I just hope it's not the Blood Red brocade all over again (though that was about twice the price of this).

I remember on the LOTR group about this lace. Good luck. When you get the just right trim for your LOTR creation, it makes the gown more special, just my opinion. Looking forward to your masterpiece.

I totally agree. I mean, you can make a perfectly recognizable and very nice costume, but when you've got a trim or a detail that's just perfect, it really can make it that much better. We'll see about the "masterpiece" though, heh. Haven't managed one yet. ;]
