So, I talked to Chris about it last night and he seems to think there's no reason we couldn't go, if I wanted to. I'll be just barely 7 months pregnant by then, just starting into the third trimester. It is feasible, I suppose, but I still don't know what to really expect at that point. Sure, I've read what to expect, but then if I had read about the first trimester before I was almost out of it, I'd think I was in for something awful. I've just been lucky up until now that my body handles hormone changes far better than I ever imagined. Who knows, perhaps this is going to be an "easy" pregnancy all the way through. Only time will tell.

So, it may be a last minute decision and might just be sort of an overnight trip to meet everyone for breakfast and hang out when and where we can. But there's still a possibility that I'll make it to Dragon*Con, octuplets and all. ;]

Also, I got the registration and class information for Clasp yesterday in the mail. Another big event in the middle of September. But, at least it's in Nashville and by then, I'll be right at home. A weekend of classes on the design side of jewelry making, techniques both new and old, and the ever important marketing side. It is somewhat pricey at $715 for the weekend, but at least, unlike most people, I won't need a hotel. And really, there are a ton of classes you get to attend, plus breakfast and lunch provided all three days (well, just breakfast on Sunday, I think they end early). I think it would do a lot for me, especially since it looks like I'll be a stay at home mom for the next several years. It would do me well to use that time to get my jewelry business underway. Perhaps next year, depending on class schedules and how things go with the baby, I might be able to get my Graduate Gemologist degree through GIA.

Perhaps our lives aren't over after all. :] We'll just have to see what's possible, since we have no idea what to expect.

Oh, I'm so glad I'm not the only one trying to balance Cons and the prospect of pregnancy! (Though obviously for you, it's not so much a prospect anymore!) I know Doug and I don't want to wait a whole lot longer for kids - I'm already almost 32, and Doug is 5 years older than me, and he doesn't want to be ancient when we have kids. But here I am thinking "I don't want to have to miss a DragonCon!" We decided we'd put off the kids thing til at least after this one - but then I'm thinking about how to time things to avoid missing the next one! But there's the question of not knowing how tiring it would be to be pregnant at something like DragonCon!

Well, of course I hope you'll be able to make it - I'd love to finally meet you! I'll be sure to bring some banana bread, to make all your problems go away! (that banana bread quote cracks Doug up, so we quote it a lot!)

Well, if you could time the beginning of your second trimester with Dragon*Con (I say second because it's apparently the easiest, when hormones settle down and morning sickness subsides), that would make the child about 7-8 months old (depending on exact birthdate) during the following year's con. That's somewhat manageable. You could always come up with a family costume, like the couple with the baby last year with the great Incredibles costumes. (I'm thinking Homer, Marge and Maggie, of course) Even better, if you've got grandparents nearby that wouldn't mind spending some time with the child for the weekend, you could go that route, too. Chris' parents have already hinted at us that they'd be glad (reads ecstatic) to take weekend duty once in a while so we could go do stuff like that or music festivals or just get out of town every once in a while. This is their first grandchild, so they're really excited. My parents however, this is the eighth grandchild/step-grandchild, so they're a little worn out and I probably wouldn't ask it of them (they watch my stepbrothers' kids constantly).

LOL, every morning in the shower I think of:
Manjula: Apu, do you still find me attractive?
Apu: Of course, sweetheart. You are beautiful and silky and manageable.
Manjula: You are reading that off a conditioner bottle!

But hey, if I go, I'll let you know how tiring it was while pregnant. ;]

That is true! Actually, Doug never goes, it's just not his thing, so he's alread said he'd watch the baby so I could go. So either I miss one, or try and time it so I miss none, but go pregnant. Don't know if it'll be do-able, we'll have to see! :-)

Well, at least you weren't actively trying!

Manjula: All that sex for nothing!
Apu: Well, that is a grim assessment!

When you were looking at the pregnancy test, did you say "Baby, baby, pirate!"?

:-)

LOL! No, we got one of those that's digital and just says "Pregnant" or "Not Pregnant". No fun! Wish they had them that were like scratch-n-win lottery tickets!

Well, I guess there's no misinterpreting things that way! :-)
