Time again for my daily report.

Got in all that luscious velvet last night. My cat, Mogwai, has discovered a fabric that's as snuggly as he is. Just had a tiny swatch in my hand and he rubbed against it, then got this excited look in his eye and flipped over upside down on top of the rest of the swatches, just rolling around on them. I had to lock him in the bedroom to be able lay it out in the hall so I could cut it up into manageable pieces. Otherwise, he was all over it and every time I moved it, he'd jump at the creases (I just envisioned kitty claws tearing up my precious silk velvet).
Got it all pre-washed, much easier to do so when it's in 2-3 yard pieces. Think I'll do that from now on when possible. Then I separated the pieces in to what each would be dyed: roughly 7 yards for midnight blue (enough for my overgown and the mantle), 4 yards for rose red (2 yards on each sleeve), and 4 yards of charcoal grey.
I got the rose red dyed, but I think it needs more scarlet to it. It was still wet when I left this morning (let it soak overnight again and got up this morning, ran it through a load of Synthrapol and then a load of Milsoft) but it's looking like a better candidate for the Rose gown than the Blood Red gown. *sigh* Impatience. Think I'll just mix up what I have left of the scarlet dye and do an overdye tonight. Hopefully that won't take too long and I can do a second batch of dye tonight, too (grey, since the midnight blue dye isn't here yet). Oh yeah, I used a mixture of dusty rose, rose red and scarlet, but I have no idea of the proportions because I kept adding dye during the testing and not paying attention to how much. The stuff looks perfect when wet, but when dry, well, I guess I don't really know for sure yet, but it wasn't looking great when I left for work.
Also got the swatch for Chris' fabric and got all that ordered. Paid $40 for it, much better than the $150 I budgeted for the expensive stuff at Hancock's.
Also went to Wal-de-Mort, but, alas, no gold fabric pens. No gold permanent markers. No gold calligraphy pens (I didn't see any calligraphy pens for that matter). I'm going to check Hancock's and Hobby Lobby tonight (they're conveniently next to each other). And, failing that, yet another stupid order from Dharma. *sigh* I need interfacing and jewelry glue anyway, might as well go locally.
Got two more panels cut and pinned for the undergown. Two more to go. Be warned, Jess, this very thin habotai is difficult to work with/keep ironed/cut more than one layer at once/etc.
I'm watching some gold bullion appliqués from Heritage Trading right now. If won, I'm going to use them to finish off the ends of my neckline in back where I'm sure I'll run out of trim. Auction ends in two days, so I don't expect to have them for Halloween, but at least before the Indy exhibit. I just don't feel like beading/embroidering something myself right now. I've got plenty of that to do for the wedding gown after Halloween is over.
I'm thinking of taking Friday off to stay home and work on it. Now that I think about it, I'm going to do that. Might give me a chance to do some housework too. Our house is falling apart since I'm spending every waking hour sewing. I find myself counting the hours/minutes until I can get out of work and get back to sewing.
No pics, nothing much to see at this point.
