Baby steps

The front of the jumper is now mocked up. One side looks kinda funky and seems as though it needs a dart (it doesn't, it's just the way I cut it, too rounded, needs more of an angle). The other looks great! I figure I only need half of it to use as a pattern so I'm ok with that. Got a few pics, but I've changed things some this morning and Chris took off with the camera to school. I'll get the back done tonight, shouldn't take more than a half hour or so. The front was easier to fit than the Dream gown! Some waist definition looking on from the front, and just hangs from the bust in the side view. I think I've accomplished that.

Jess, I got pics up of the habotai if you want to see what it's like. It's VERY thin! But I think that'll be ok for an undergown in the south. I ordered 2-3 extra yards (because of the price break at a bolt, it was only a couple of dollars more) and wound up with 14 yards on the bolt, so worst case, I can use two layers where needed. That's after a pre-wash, by the way. Honestly, it seems like it would make a good under layer for the Coronation sleeves (the lemon yellow chiffon/mousseline/stuff). That's something I'll have to keep in mind when I get around to it.

Got home way too late last night to do much else than what I did. Didn't go by Hancock's, but I'll try to do that today. I really want to see if they have that brocade that's on the website. Don't want to buy it without seeing it. Need to call eQuilter and order a swatch of their possibility, too. I think I like it better, but I'm not sure without seeing either.

The chiropractor adjusted my upper back yesterday and I'm doing much better. Trying to be conscious of slouching.

I want to finish with my gown's mockup quickly tonight and hopefully get some good work done on Chris' undertunic. The petal wrap sleeves *seem* like they're going to be fairly simple. Have to have the undertunic mockup done in order to start the surcoat. And I want to have both done by the end of the weekend so that I can order velvet.

hmm, I just checked and the crinkle georgette i got from them is 8mm. so perhaps i should "bite the bullet" so to speak and get the 8 or higher... but at the same time I live in SC (it NEVER is cold here) and go with the 5 so I can wear the dresses all year. (I was planing to line things with it too.) but it's very pretty... *slaps self* now I'm thinking about what i can do with all the diff weights! bad me!

heh, yeah, there have been January evenings in Alabama where I didn't need a jacket. So, I wasn't too upset with it being that thin, especially for wear in the summer. However, I also don't want the parts of the undergown that show to be translucent (there are areas you can see in the front and back around the armscye, if I make it true to pics). I might do something like line the upper part of the undergown with an extra layer of it and leave the skirt with the thin stuff. If it is chilly, I can always make a cloak (which I hope to do for this outfit eventually anyway).

hmm yeah, didn't think about that. lining the top sounds good.... ooh! a cloak! your mean ;p
