Not much to update on

Work has been complete hell this week, so I've been trying to take it kind of easy at home. Almost got the dishes caught up and have vowed to never allow Chris to do dishes again. They either a) never get clean on the first run through or b) are consistently put away in totally wrong places. Yeah, I'm nit-picky, but I hate trying to find things. I also hate realizing something's in the dishwasher, only to open it and notice everything has been crammed in and nothing is clean. *sigh* You'd think I'd be used to it after 5 years. ;]

I have worked some on the Dream gown this week. Mostly 30 minutes here or there. Not much to report, and I'm sad that it's taking me so long for such a simple dress. I guess I really am taking my time at it though. I'm just ready to move on to the next thing I guess. So looking forward to that Blood Red gown next!! Hoping to at least get to start on the mockup before we leave for the west.

Chris will have to work some this weekend, he's way behind on a project that should have been done for work. He's taking the same kind of attitude I'm taking with my dress I think. Then there were two programmers who switched from Windows to Linux during this project, and Chris, being one of only two Linux users here (the other being on vacation at the time), was bombarded by questions from these guys. Puts a big kink in projects when you have to spend a week helping people set up their boxes.

Anyway, he gets to work from home, incidently in the same room where I'll be working on my gown (our office/hobby room). So we'll be productive and get to spend quality time together this weekend (heh, as if we spend so many hours apart, he works across the room from me at both work and home).

Hmmm, maybe you should take a break from the dream gown and work on the blood red. Go back to the dream gown when you feel ready. :)

I love when my hubby lounges (reading) on the couch in my sewing room. It's nice to just have him in there while I work.

Sorry your week sucked. :( But hey, it's the weekend!

Definitely! If you aren't in any hurry to finish the dream gown, why not start on the BR? You can work on both at the same time.

yeah, very true, but I'm just terrible about putting down a project and never getting back to it (or taking forever to get back to it). So I'm afraid that if I start something else, I'll never pick it back up. Probably not as likely in this case because I'm loving how this is turning out. Just going to work really hard on it this weekend and try to get it finished up. I'm really close, so it's bugging me.

I think I have all the kinks worked out, had to do some backtracking to get the effects I really wanted. I finally got it to a point where I could try it on with the two layers last night, and let me just say, it's heavy for chiffon and feels incredible to wear! So that's got me excited all over again. Chris loves it too. This is the first time I saw his eyes light up when he talked about it. Before, I think it's just been cloth hanging on dress form to him.

But if I get sick of it this weekend, I may try to dye my paisley and start on the silk painting for that. Thanks for the advice guys!

You know me, I love to tell people what to do! :D

heh, but you've got some excellent insight at least ;]

Did you fall down and hit your head? Or do you know another J-9? It can't be me that you speak of...;D

heh

well, thus far, the advice I've taken that you've given has been good. perhaps a streak of luck? :P

"In my experience there's no such thing as luck." oh, hahahahahahaha I'm so funny! Just kidding. :D

You sound just like me! Generally, if I put a sewing project aside, it will never get finished. I've finally given up on sewing clothes for myself (non costume), for some reason I can never finish them...I've discovered that I can only finish costumes and only if they are big projects that I have to invest a lot of time and $$$.

I wish my EC gown felt incredible to wear! Between the corset and 3 layers its just hot and heavy! Its so fun though!

I soooooooooo know what you mean! It's never the comfortable costumes that are fun to wear, is it?

yep, my next project is supposed to be a shirt like this. I've got everything I need for it and have for several months. I'll get around to it eventually. ;]

yeah, I love it! I saw it at www.pyramidcollection.com, but they want $80 for a polyester version!! I'm making it in silk/rayon velvet and silk jacquard for under $40. I've gotten all sorts of ideas for everyday clothes for me from that place. Just gotta force myself to put them together.

I tried to make myself regular clothes...drastic results! Never again. I can make any of Arwen's dresses, or Legolas' complete outfit...but a simple skirt? Nope, I always screw it up!
