I for one welcome our insect overlords!

So, our heat is fixed, both downstairs and upstairs, and it didn't cost us any extra. Turns out ants were flocking to the heat from the furnace and clogged up the tiny hole in one of the burners. This was causing the flame to just shoot out the top of the burner, which if left unchecked could have burned through the gas valve just above the burner and, well, could have resulted in much badness. Explosion. . . DO NOT WANT! When the guy opened up the panel on the unit, the flame was right there burning where it shouldn't. So, he got it all cleaned out, hit some reset switch and recommended we spray all around the base of the unit with a general purpose insect killer. So now it's firing into the burner where it was supposed to be.
While he was out, he also did the annual inspection we get with the Happy Hiller Club we signed up for earlier in the week. Basically, what he did to the downstairs unit is pretty much the annual inspection. So that coupled with the fact that Chris got loud with them on the phone when they wanted to charge us $56 for this visit when they were just out here and the tech who signed us up for the plan specifically told us that we wouldn't have to pay for service calls unless they were an emergency. Apparently that's not the case.
So, ants were trying to kill us apparently. I'd like to remind them that I can be helpful in rounding up others to toil in their underground sugar caves.

Wow - I'm glad you got that checked out - scary what could have happened! Stupid ants. But good opportunity for Simpsons quoting...
