Sometimes it's harder after you've done it before. For me, a lot depends on the weather, my overall mood and what time of day I go. If I've been dragging around the house all morning, I'm probably going to drag through my run, even if it's the same or easier than the run I may have done the day before. It'll get easier, just keep at it. And if you feel like you need to stick with a certain time/distance before moving on, do so. I've done it a couple of times already and am willing to bet I'll have to do it at least once more before the training is done.
Well, I get a 1.75 mile run in between the 1.5 and the 2 mile runs, Plus some other build up runs like a couple more of those 2x1 mile repeats and one more day of run 5 mins/walk 30 secs intervals.
I have a hard time even visualizing next week's goal, let alone the very end. But, as I've seen thus far in the training, a week can make a huge difference. Something that was impossible for me to do 2 months ago is easy for me now. I have to keep that in mind as I look 6 weeks ahead of me and just trust the training plan. I think it's pretty normal to look at your end goal and think, "there's no way." As long as you keep working at it, you'll get there.
The time thing is something I really want to work on once I get the distance down. I'm running extremely slow miles right now (between 11 and 12 mins) and I'd like to get down to 10 mins or less on my miles before going up in distance past the 5k mark. I just don't want to have to spend hours each day running. I have a feeling the first few times I run the full 3.5 miles, it's going to take a while.
Heh, yeah, J9's training logs look insane, but she did it! And now, riding on her residual endorphin rush, I'm actually contemplating a marathon at some point in my lifetime.
