Running again, yay!

So, despite my conviction yesterday morning to pick back up on my running, I didn't manage to get out yesterday. However, I did get out today. It was kind of the perfect weather to start back to it. Overcast, cool breeze, but not chilly, and a little bit of misting rain which turned to a heavy misting rain by the time we were done. I managed to do the run 5 minutes/walk 30 seconds intervals with relative ease. My stride felt a little sloppy, but other than that, I don't really feel anymore run down than when I left off about a week and a half ago. I could definitely tell I was stiff when I started stretching, though. I really took my time with the stretching to make sure I didn't hurt anything on the first day back.
On the weight, I've managed to break through a cap where I wasn't getting anywhere and lost another 2 pounds while I wasn't running. I can only guess that my metabolism might be slightly higher due to the muscle I've probably built over the past 6 weeks. I'm thinking about picking back up on the sit-ups I was doing last year. I remember my belly shrinking a lot faster than it is this time and I think that had something to do with it. I know the yoga will help as well, if I can work that back into the schedule. But yoga takes an hour and 10-20 sit-ups take about 5 minutes, if that. I can work it into my stretching like I used to. I might do the push-ups, too. Some bicep tone would be quite welcome at this point. I was just doing 10 of each everyday, but it seemed to make a difference.
I realized today as I was looking through the maps I've got on my account that I chose the wrong one on a few workouts and used one that was about a tenth of a mile shorter. I looked at how many I did that with and it's only 4 workouts, so it amounts to about .5 miles that went unlogged last month. Not enough to make me want to go back and change them.
Since I feel good after today's run, I think tomorrow I'll move on and try the 2x1 mile repeats again, basically just swapping today and tomorrow in the 7th week of the plan. I think Saturday will be my next rest day. Hopefully much gardening will ensue, with a brief field trip to the Germantown Oktoberfest. I think we'll skip the Mt. Olivet cemetery tour. There's just so much going on this month, some things are going to have to slide.
Looks like we did our run early enough that we missed the heavy rains.

on 2008-10-08 01:25 pm (UTC)I swear we're normally a very healthy household, but the past two weeks it's just been one thing after another. I blame day care!
Will rest up, drink lots of green tea and water, take some immune boosters and see if I can't get back out tomorrow. It's a good day to curl up with a book, I think.
