Catsuit shipped!
Aug. 12th, 2010 09:34 amI emailed them yesterday and turns out their website is very misleading. The item page said "ships in 24-48 hours" but it takes them 5 days to process their suits. I'm thinking this thing must be custom made. I know they do custom measurements, closures and such for no additional cost. If I had realized it would take the same time for a stock size, I would have sent measurements.
Anyway, immediately following the response from them about what "processing" meant and the typical time line for shipping one of their suits, I got the shipping confirmation. Not an automated one, but one from the same customer service rep who had just emailed me (or maybe all their customer service reps sign "Stephanie". It is a Chinese company, after all). She explained I could receive the suit as early as next week and that I should let them know once I've received it (or that I should look out for the parcel because it could be sent back or something, I'm not really sure. It must require a signature and English is obviously not her first language. It's all as clear as mud really).
I have to wonder, though, given the way this was handled if perhaps the only reason it shipped when it did was because I asked about it. My email to them was just a simple question and request for clarification, so I don't think it seemed like I was an irate customer that required immediate attention or anything. But, language/cultural barriers and all, that I bothered to email at all may have sent a message of urgency. She did ask at one point when I needed the suit.
Anyway, I'm breathing a tad bit easier because I know it's on the way and worst case it'll get here on the 24th giving me exactly one week to make my alterations and paint it and such. I think I'm going to test spray paint on a scrap of lycra I've got laying around. If I can make a stencil of the bat symbol and spray paint it, that'll take a few minutes instead of a few hours.
I can do this!
Now, to get ready for my very non-costume-centric day. Maybe I can get all my errands run by lunch time and can work on it this afternoon before soccer practice.
