It begins. . .

We left work a little early yesterday. No matter, I'm still quite a bit over on my hours so far this week. One good point about being back down to one car for the moment is that I'm getting in plenty of overtime. To think of it, that's not such a good point, but oh well.
On our way home yesterday, we decided to drive around on Monte Sano, just to get an idea of availability and price range. There was one really neat looking house right in our range, on a pretty nice lot, within walking distance of the State Park. But, we're wondering what they hell is wrong with it, because everything else (that we saw prices on anyway) was $220K and up for stuff that wasn't all that big or all that nice. Still, it's probably worth looking at. Really neat old looking house, all brick if I remember right. Kind of overgrown, but that's part of what I liked about it. Other than that, there were less than 10 houses on the market I'd say. A couple for rent, a handful for sale, a few being built (probably $400K houses). But it is a small community, and when people move there, they tend to stay there.
Not that we're ready to buy at this moment, but we figure we should get in the habit of looking for houses and educate ourselves on the price ranges of certain areas, and the process in general.
We also looked around Big Cove a bit, just to see what was there. Not much for sale, and what was had no trees.
So,
branflake, since you like looking at houses a great deal, how about you send anything interesting you find our way. ;]
The trees are changing on a daily basis. Every morning that I wake, the yellows are a tint closer to orange. They'll all be gone before I know it.
10 days until Indy. I've got to get re-motivated. So close, but so far away.

on 2005-11-09 09:52 pm (UTC)We haven't looked into what's wrong at all yet. Could be dead transmission. Could be transmission fluid low/missing. If it's the first, well, I'm of the opinion we could spend $2000-$4000 and fix this car and keep truckin' (no pun intended). Chris is of a similar opinion, but thinks we should sink the $4000 or so into a running used car like a civic or something that we know would run forever and preferably something that gets much better gas mileage.
We'll have to find out what's wrong with it exactly first though.
