Well, meetup.com BLOWS!

That's where I was organizing the beadwork group. I got an email today that, "guess what, organizer, you get to pay us $20/month for nothing!!" Yeah, I feel like I fucking won the lottery. I get to pay more than our monthly phone bill to show up at the location of my choice one night a month and sit around beading by myself. Whoohooo!
I'm not bitter that no one joined and we never got off the ground. I'm really not, that's not what this is about. They throw up a message board and give you a few contact pages and expect you to pay that much for this "service"? Please, yahoo groups is a much better alternative, and FREE!
So, I think I'm going to sort out my life, figure out what is most important to me (cause I'm spread so thin lately) and if this sort of thing is in that list of "must dos" then I'm going to set up a yahoo group, add a page or two to my currently untouched website, and start putting up fliers in businesses in 5 pts and downtown and at the local craft stores. Hell, there's no reason to limit it to jewelry and beadwork. How about, "United Artist of Huntsville, AL"? Any thoughts?
Until then, I've stepped down as organizer and removed myself from Meetup.com entirely.
