So, I've been busy. I mean REALLY busy. Booked rentals for the wedding. Need to add some stuff and take stuff off of that order, but we can do that up until the time we pick it up that morning (provided they have what we need in stock). Met with a florist on Thursday. Meeting with another one on Monday and a fourth (counting one I met with a couple of weeks ago) on Tuesday. Vests are done for the groom, groomsmen and ring bearer. We found the missing yard of fabric folded up inside the other fabrics, so all five of them were done. I never heard back from the company though, so they might have just ignored me. Meh, just as well. Here they are, and more pics here

I almost gave up on my gown today and ordered this one to put my trim on. I decided I should shop around and see what other possibilities there were. Unfortunately, all it did was inspire me to just stop looking and keep working on my mockup. I guess that could be an option in a pinch, but I'm not ready to give up on it just yet. I spent all day working on it, made really excellent progress, so I'm feeling good about it again. I plan to be ordering silk velvet for it on next Friday (happens to be payday).

We've made the rounds to every Dollar Tree in town (that's 5 stores) and bought up every amber votive candle holder they had. Then I went to Michael's and got 60 three inch terra cotta pots. I still have probably 20 eight inch pots to buy. Then of course flowers to plant in them. That's our reception decor, potted plants and candles. Quite a bit less expensive than the first florist I talked to. *sigh* I'm still in negotiations with the band we're trying to get.

Unfortunately, work isn't letting up either. I'm busier now than I've been in months there as well. But I've got a lot of energy lately, so I guess it balances out.

Oh, yeah, I finally got the pictures off the camera of the set I made for Susanna, the ten-year-old little girl. They're all here, but here's a good one of the whole set all boxed up. . .

Also, here's the brooch I won on ebay to go with the wedding gown. . .

I guess that's all. G'night all.

heh, now I feel bad, I'll explain in more detail in another post, but I'm about ready to buy one now that I found locally, fits me like a dream off the rack and they came down even off the sale price since it's a floor model (and is missing a little flower on the sleeve that I would have pulled off anyway).

I'm not sure if the girl really liked it or not, I didn't hear back after her birthday (didn't go to the brew club meeting this month). I guess we'll find out for sure in a couple of weeks (at the April meeting). Thanks for the compliments! Whenever you get the urge, I'd be happy to do a custom piece for you if you'd like. You can give me a price range to work from even. With this new jewelry making plan I'm trying to follow, I'll have $20 pieces all the way up to $100 pieces (for now, I might get some higher end stuff later as I learn new skills and get more elaborate).

I'm pretty sure the brooch is a mass produced kind of thing. Has some tell-tale signs of casting, and the oxidation on it (the black stuff), was done to the entire piece (without the stones and cameo in place of course), clasp and all. In fact, I had to un-stick it because there was liver of sulfur or whatever they used for the oxidation, cloging the swing part of the clasp. The clasp is soldered on a little crooked, too (not as such that it doesn't sit straight, just looks a little off when looking at the back of it). So, I was a tiny bit disappointed in the construction of it, but it's nothing that anyone but me or a fellow jeweler would notice. ;]
