Yeah... they are great when they work right... a royal frustration when they don't. I too prefer to build my own since I first did it because then I know how it works and what I likely need to fix and how to upgrade. If the Hackintosh has crapped out already, might be lucky enough to have the parts still under warranty and can get them replaced for free. And hmmm... I may have a Radeon 1600XT? PCI2 card laying around. Certainly not top of the line anymore, but might still be a decent video card for you.
And I'm guessing you aren't going to make it to the Saturday crafty thing?
