I always remember the "multitasking makes you stupid" article you linked to a while back. The only thing I feel I really multitask on is laundry and that's unavoidable. Most of my daily tasks only take an hour or two, unless I buckle down and decide to spend an entire day on something. And when I switch gears to the next thing, well, it takes a while for my brain to switch over and I find the first 30 minutes or so of the next task feels very fumbly and awkward. Or, with a toddler in the house, even when I do decide to spend an entire day on one thing, well, there are inevitably interruptions and it takes a while after one to get back on track. Feeling a lot of spinning wheels and not covering much ground. Luckily most of the cleaning I can do without thinking about it, so for some tasks, I'm on autopilot, which makes it even harder to switch to something that requires thinking.
