mellymell: (homer running)

Well, since there was nothing to report, I didn't bother to post this earlier in the week, but I am trying to keep a record of how long I've been doing this, even if I haven't been doing it for just under 4 weeks now. Regardless of how long it's taken me to get back out there, I did it today. It was a gorgeous day for a run; the sun shining as brightly as it can this time of year with a remarkably balmy breeze blowing, especially given how cold it's been lately. Not knowing how far back I've slipped in training, I decided to try out the full neighborhood route (2.53 miles) doing run 5 min/walk 30 sec intervals. I'm not going to pretend it wasn't totally hard. Toward the end of the second and third running intervals (I did four total), I grabbed the phone wondering if the timer was ever going to go off. The last interval, I think my body just gave in, knowing I wasn't going to allow it to stop. I finished the route in 31 min, so I'm still pretty on target for my time. I tried really hard to hold back at first, knowing I was rusty on pacing and not wanting to kill myself for the rest of the run. Breathing was hard, since I've been so congested lately, but I'm hoping as I get back in the habit of running that some of that will work itself out.

Back to running the day before Thanksgiving. . . I guess that's right on par with my "day late and a dollar short" mentality. (or is it better late than never?)
