mellymell: (homer running)

Was a good week. I felt consistently challenged but pushed to finish. Today I ran 1.5 miles straight. That's the farthest I've gone at once. The last .5 miles I did in 4.5 mins, up a slight incline even. I could feel myself really pushing, but I knew I was near the end so I allowed it. Kind of a sprint to the finish. I found out when I went to log the workout though that I did the wrong route. I still got my mileage in, minus maybe a tenth of a mile. Here's what the week looked like:

Mon - rest
Tues - 3.04 miles in 39 mins (2x1 mile repeats) (1st mile 11:25, 2nd mile 12:13)
Wed - 2.35 miles in 30 mins (run 5 mins/walk 30 sec) (avg. pace 12:46 min/mile)
Thurs - 1.96 miles in 24:32 mins (run 1.25 miles) (1st mile 11:29, .25 mile 3:03)
Fri - rest
Sat - 3.04 miles in 38 mins (2x1 mile repeats) (1st mile 11:50, 2nd mile 11:50*)
Sun - 1.96 miles in 23:10 mins (run 1.5 miles) (1st mile 11:33, .5 mile 4:37)

Mileage totals:
Week - 12.35
Month - 26.63
Year - 106.16

By the end of next week, I should be running two miles straight, then on to the 5k plan. It looks like I can skip, or rather hold off on the last week of the 5k plan since it takes you right up to race day and is a "back off" sort of week. So, in 6 weeks, unless I hit more unforeseen hitches, I should be running 3.5 miles straight. Then I can start working on my times.

And yay, I broke 100 miles for the year! Of course, at the height of her training, J-9 was doing that on a normal month, but whatever. She's Wonder Woman.

* Times are approximate this day. Had a stopwatch with my times saved but before I had a chance to log the workout, my phone battery ran out and the phone shut off. I learned something new about my phone: when you turn it off, the stopwatch clears. I had a vague recollection of how long it took me to do my two miles and the total time so I went with that.

Whoohooo. Congrats!

I sucked today. I pretty much wussed out and power walked, because the running makes my back hurt.

Was great to see you last night. You looked soooo pretty in your gorgeous gown. I think everyone had a pretty good time don't ya think?

Makes me so happy to read your weekly logs! I made myself run today before I could comment though - hehe.

I did 1.5 miles straight again today and almost DIED. (I ran 2.5 total). Isn't it supposed to be harder the first time than the second time? I think I'm going to have to stick with this amount for a while before I can move up. I can't believe you're supposed to scoot to 2 straight so quickly. Good luck with that.

Also, I feel as if I'm never going to get to the point where I can run 3.5 miles straight and be able to work on time. I mean I'm liking it and am not as discouraged as I sound but at the point I'm at now I'm having a hard time visualizing the end goal. I don't know if that's normal or if I'm just a pessimist.

When I would read J9's training logs, I knew it was a LOT. But now that I'm dying at 1.5 miles I realize it was REALLY A LOT. Hee.
