What a gorgeous day today! I had to get out of the house for an hour or so and got to enjoy a bit of the late afternoon. Our dryer makes this high pitched squeaking noise that's not unlike fingernails on a chalkboard for a solid hour while it runs. It's best to start a load and leave the house.

We had a good weekend. Friday night, Chris and I ate at an absolutely wonderful Turkish restaurant called Anatolia. We had stuffed grape leaves for an appetizer, and the olive oil on the tables they used for bread dipping is some of, if not the best I've ever had (very light and delicate, actually tasted like olives). I had a lamb ravioli with a yogurt sauce (tasted heavily of lemon and garlic and was sprinkled with dried mint and red pepper flakes). Chris had a really good roasted eggplant dish with chunks of lamb in a tomato sauce of some sort. They had all sorts of kabobs on the menu as well. It could be some of the best food we've had since we moved up here (and we've had quite a bit of great food). After dinner we took a walk through Centennial Park and then headed home.

Saturday, I got a call from Jason. Mike was in town (as in Huntsville) and they were thinking about coming to Nashville for the day. So Jason, Zach and Mike stopped by and we showed them around the house. Then we went to All Seasons. I picked up some instant organic fertilizer I've been meaning to get (I've been wanting something as easy as Miracle Grow, but organic, blood meal, bone meal and guano are great but take a while to break down). From there we took them to Baja Burrito. Chris and I have really grown to love the place. It's cheap and fast, but best of all, the food is awesome! They seemed to like it as well. From there they were headed to Mike's uncle's farm near Lebanon, TN. Chris and I headed back home.

Sunday, we spent most of the day searching in vain for Chris' lost pocket PC phone. He had lost it sometime on Saturday while he was running network cable. This meant the search not only covered the entire house but also the crawl space and both attics. By late afternoon, we still hadn't found it and were both itching like crazy from insulation.

So, we decided to take a break and go furniture shopping. Things tend to look empty when you add 500 square feet or so to your living space. We found some promising places but need to go back with a throw pillow from our couch to try to match any furniture we're going to get for the den. We did pick up a fabric shaver to be sure all the little loose strings from various cats would come off ok without damaging the couch. Seems to work great, though tedious.

As we were getting out of the car at one of the furniture stores, I glanced over to Chris' seat, just to see if perhaps his phone had slipped off his belt at some point on Saturday. Sure enough, there it sat in the space between his seat and the door.

That's pretty much it. I think I'm going to make a batch of Doug's brownie recipe tomorrow to take to the Dentes (the nice family that welcomed us to the neighborhood with cookies, seems fitting). Aside from a thank you, it's an attempt at breaking down some social anxiety barriers as well as trying to meet some people up here.
