Sep. 28th, 2005 09:05 amI'm feeling much better today and am going to attempt to go back to work. Not sure if I'll make it the entire day, but I'm going to try. I can always go lay on the couch if it starts being too uncomfortable (read a Perl book or something). I really appreciate everyone's good thoughts and well wishes!
On the plus side, I got lots of beading done yesterday. I finished the outer rows of beading and started to work on the vine design in the center. The design is based on Galadriel's drop belt, though altered in places and is wider and the shapes are larger than hers. I'm halfway done with the center wavy line that is the main part of the vine. Then there are five large leaves, five small leaves and five curls that branch out from the center vine. All of these will first be done in the seed beads. The leaves will have glass teardrop beads in the centers and glass pearls where needed for filler. I was going to line the vines and curls with the silver bugle beads on each side of the seed beads like I did the outer lines. But instead, to keep it from looking too heavy and to pick up another skill, I think I'm going to line the seed beads with silver embroidery, probably a simple chain stitch. Something to make it stand out (frosted iridescent clear beads on a white background need that kind of help), but not to weight it down like I think the bugles would.
I've got pics of my progress that I need to upload. Hoping to finish the center vine tonight. I'm getting much faster. I also pinned some of the silver/white/iridescent piping I've got to the outer edge to see how it will look against the Viking Tree trim that's on the edge. I love it! Glad I have plenty of that stuff. I'll probably line the belt with the piping too, and perhaps the neckline of the gown. Every time I start working on this gown, it evolves into something slightly different than when I started.
