inspired to clean again
Jan. 10th, 2005 03:08 pmIt's funny how I'll be working along on something for the wedding, then jump up and say, "hey, I need this space to be clean so I can do [insert random task]" and an hour later, I've completely gone through, sorted, and cleaned something (mostly in the office for now). Of course then usually I don't have enough time to keep working on what I was previously. But the next time I pick it up, I'm ready to continue where I left it. Before I know it, the office will be completely clean and organized (that is my aim).
This time it was writing the ceremony. I was getting to another section of questions for writing the vows and realized, "why in the hell am I doing this in a notebook when I could be doing it on my computer where I can edit it at will and where Chris can later go back and add his answers?" Then it hit me that it was because I didn't currently have a monitor hooked up and my desk was a disaster area.
An hour later, not only was my desk cleaned off, but the shelving and filing cabinet in it were also cleaned out and organized. All of the office supplies that I've been storing in my desk for lack of a better place got put in the roll top desk in the study (wheee!! I have my personal space back for my things!!). I threw away a bunch of stuff too (been in one of those moods lately). All of my jewelry making supplies now fit nicely in my desk, out of view. Now if I could just get that freakin' scanner of mine to work. . . oh, and order a new stylus for my Wacom tablet. I didn't get the monitor hooked up, it was time for dinner by then. But I'll likely do that tonight (along with cleaning off the trunk next to my desk so I can put all this fabric/sewing stuff I've got laying around in it).
Have I mentioned that silk velvet is the most exquisite thing I've ever felt in my life? And to think, I plan to make a cloak of the stuff!
Chris and I went through our wardrobes and got rid of a bunch of stuff this weekend too. Well, it's not gone yet. Mogwai's been using it as a massive bed in the hallway (huge pile of clothes that I have no idea why we were hanging onto). So it made room for some new stuff I got a couple of weeks ago, and stuff we got for Christmas (still have a Parisian gift card to spend on "something nice"). Now to get all the rest of our clothes clean.
bamagaijin, you can have your chainsaw back now (or more accurately,
atrixwolfe can have it back). I didn't get around to cutting up the trees, but I later found out that my dad has one should I finally get around to it. Besides,
atrixwolfe needs it a lot more than I do! And the salesmen have been much more cooperative ever since. . . the incident. ;-) Just tell me when and where and I can drop it off (preferably during the weekend, weekdays are nuts again, Chris being back in school and all, *eeek*).
