In a very small, insignificant way, I'm kind of proud of myself for how much I was able to accomplish in just two short days. In a lot more ways, though, I'm very disappointed in myself for the work I should have been doing on it months ago when I first started collecting materials. I could have dyed and painted the paisley in July. I could have finished the mockup in June or July. But, hindsight is 20/20 and all that.

And so, I was too bummed Saturday night to go out or even call [livejournal.com profile] branflake to let her know I wasn't coming out (and that's especially why I suck). In fact, yesterday, all I could do was just wander around the house aimlessly trying to gather my thoughts (lack of sleep doesn't help that). Luckily, Halloween was just an excuse to wear the finished costumes. I was making them regardless, but it would have been nice to have them done. I should have given up earlier in the night and just gone out, knowing I'd have to answer a hundred, "where are your costumes" questions.

Now I've got 2.5 weeks until we go to Indy to get things finished up. And after this is all over with, I'm never putting deadlines on my hobbies again. It takes all the fun out of it, stresses me out for no good reason, and is a huge let down when I fail, not to mention a kick in the stomach to my self-esteem.

Here's what I did get done. The undergown looks awful! I can't wait to replace it (fabric on the way). It wasn't an entire loss though, I used the spare habotai (the purple stuff) to dress a window that needed it. The overgown will get another dip in navy dye before it's all said and done (I want it almost black, it's showing up about right in pics, but far too purplish-blue in person), and the sleeves are looking a lot more orange in pics than they really are (I'm actually happy with that part of it, though it could stand to be a little more muted, maybe a couple more hot water washes).

On the plus side, I watched a ton of movies this weekend. Crash, Sleepy Hollow, War of the worlds (worst. ending. EVER.), Snatch, Nightmare before Christmas, and there's probably another one in there somewhere. Movies worked well to keep me going, better than cartoons because they're longer, and surprisingly, better than music.

Treehouse of Horror XVI is on this weekend.

I'm living in a dream today.
